Lisa Han

Lisa Han manages LitSpark Youth’s logistics and initiatives. Lisa is dedicated to creating equal opportunities for underserved youth, and believes literacy should be accessible to all, regardless of background or circumstance.

Grace Chen

Grace Chen spearheads LitSpark Youth’s outreach , marketing, and logistics, expanding the organization’s impact and connecting with communities. Driven by a deep belief in educational equity, she is committed to breaking down barriers that prevent children from accessing the tools they need to thrive.

Maggie Wu

Maggie Wu leads LitSpark Youth’s technical side. As the lead developer of the LitSpark Youth app, Maggie strives to give all children an opportunity to hone their English-speaking skills, making them more ready to tackle the difficult tasks of tomorrow.

Marketing Directors

Vicki Liu

Vicki is a senior at St. Joes and is super excited to bring literacy to more youth in Ottawa as a marketing director! In her spare time, Vicki enjoys doing arts and crafts, reading, and baking.

Madison Enman

Madison is currently a Grade 11 student who has a passion for education, literacy, and teaching. As Marketing Officer, she helps advertise LitSpark Youth through social media posts, flyers, and by word of mouth. She’s here to make sure that everyone is aware of the amazing work that’s happening with the team so that the LitSpark Youth organizations can help youth as much as possible.

Logistics Directors

Rubi Li

Rubi Li is a Logistics Officer of LitSpark Youth and helps manage logistics and operations. Rubi enjoys reading various written works, and learning about obscure French idioms.

Sophia Chen

Sophia Chen is a Logistics Officer at LitSpark Youth. Through her role, she is dedicated in igniting a passion for reading in today’s youth by ensuring they have access to the resources they need to succeed. In her free time, Sophia enjoys browsing the library, hiking, and skiing.

Jia Punjabi

As a logistics officer at LitSpark Youth, Jia helps make sure we get books into the hands of those who need them most. Reading has helped shape Jia into who she is today. She believes that books act as a gateway to new worlds, forming our values and broadening our perspectives. She was privileged to have the opportunity to access books growing up, and now she’s committed to ensuring others have it too. She’s thrilled to be part of a team that provides access to knowledge, literacy, and a love for reading.

Hannah Gu

Hannah is a logistics officer at LitSpark Youth. She is a student at Merivale High School and hopes to make a difference in the community by helping create equal opportunities among the youth to have access to literacy education.

Outreach Directors

Wafia Kamran

Wafia Kamran serves as one of the outreach directors for LitSpark Youth, hoping to increase the opportunities for children’s literacy in Ottawa. As a passionate writer and reader, Wafia is dedicated to fostering a love of literature and empowering youth to explore the world of words, helping ensure that every child has the opportunity to develop strong reading and writing skills.

Anisha Arul

Anisha Arul is thrilled to be a part of LitSpark Youth’s mission. Literacy is one of the basic foundations for the growth of a child and is crucial in shaping successful lives. As Outreach Officer, Anisha hopes to build reliable connections in order to bridge the literary gaps in today’s society. To ensure that every child has access to the resources that build meaningful interests and relationships, is a step forward in maintaining equality.

Sophia Ren

Sophia Ren is a high school student at Longfields-Davidson Heights Secondary School who has been continuously supporting younger children who struggle with literacy. As an Outreach Officer, Sophia is responsible for engaging and collaborating with members of the community. In this role, she develops and executes strategic outreach initiatives that build strong relationships with stakeholders, foster collaboration, and expand the organization’s connections network.

Meet Our Volunteers

Nana Araba Takyiwa-Baffoe

Araba is a 12th grade student in Barrhaven. As a LitSpark Youth volunteer, she helps with outreach, book collection and anything else that needs to be done. She also works as a swim instructor and lifeguard with the City of Ottawa. Araba loves reading books and is eternally grateful that she has access to books through libraries, book stores, etc. Thus, she is so excited to provide the less fortunate with books to help them improve their literacy, discover a love for reading and bridge the literacy gap in Ottawa!

Nawazish Ali

Nawazish Ali is currently a Grade 12 student at Merivale High School. Of his many interests, reading is a major one among them. Through time, he has come to realize that books are often out of reach for many. This literacy barrier impacts youth’s literacy negatively. He believes that if youth had better access to literacy resources, then they would be able to partake in the joy of reading. His role here at LitSpark is a general volunteer, and he is responsible for helping out with a variety of initiatives.

Laiba Kashif

Laiba Kashif is a passionate volunteer at LitSpark. Dedicated to making literature accessible to all children, Laiba is helping bridge the gap between inequality in access to literacy education. Laiba loves to read mystery novels, swim, bake, and write poetry.

Katarina Bolic

Katarina Bolic is a volunteer at LitSpark Youth who has a passion for reading and writing. She has always understood the value that books and stories carry in connecting people and fostering creativity. She would love to help share the joy of reading with others and support efforts to make literacy available to everyone. She also loves playing sports, photography, and cooking.
